This fabulously beautiful, shiny, black yarn started out at a local farm. I purchased the skirted but unwashed locks of Kid Mohair because I loved the color. After several days of washing the locks in pots on the stove-top, they were finally clean enough to be laid out on the dining room table to dry. (We ate in the Kitchin that week!) Once dry, I picked them over for second cuts, short pieces and any stray vegetable matter that had escaped the pot! Next step was to card it on my Louett hand carder. I double carded it for maximum uniformity. Finally, it was ready to spin!
I have 10 skeins of about 50 yards each, weighing between 1.4 and 1.9 oz. The WPI is between 12&13.
This yarn will either make something gorgeous in its own right or be a great addition as an accent!
